General Information

Pathology is not considered a primary care specialty, but is directly involved in your care by helping to provide information that is essential for patient management. Your tissue sample will be evaluated by a pathologist and then processed for preparation of glass slides. The slides are examined under microscope and finally the pathologist will issue a report to your physician. Submission of tissue sample to the pathologist implies your consent for tissue examination. Pathologists seldom directly interact with you, but their primary goal is to improve your care.
